Hyrox Training Club
The world's fitness race.
Eight kilometres of running, eight functional stations, the same everywhere in the world.
What Hyrox is
Run a kilometre. Do a station. Repeat eight times.
Hyrox is a fitness race. You run one kilometre, complete one functional station, and repeat it eight times. Eight kilometres of running and eight stations, finishing with wall balls.
Every event runs the same eight stations in the same order with the same standards, anywhere in the world. That is what makes a time in Mérida comparable to a time in Hamburg or Chicago.
It is not a gym class with a race attached. It is a sport with a global leaderboard, and the training is built backwards from it.
The eight stations
In order. This order never changes.
One kilometre of running before each one. Eight kilometres in total.
| Station | Distance or reps |
|---|---|
| 01SkiErg | 1,000 m |
| 02Sled push | 50 m |
| 03Sled pull | 50 m |
| 04Burpee broad jumps | 80 m |
| 05Rowing | 1,000 m |
| 06Farmers carry | 200 m |
| 07Sandbag lunges | 100 m |
| 08Wall balls | 100 reps |
Weights vary by division and are set by Hyrox. Confirm the current standards before publishing these figures.
The class
Sixty minutes, coached start to finish.
A class is not a race simulation. Running a full race every session would break most people inside a month. Each class works one part of the sport and the week covers all of it.
The warm up covers the movement patterns. Then a strength or power block. Then a conditioning piece against the clock. The coach sets the work, holds the pace and scales it for the room.
How the week is built
Running, stations, and the bit in between.
Running is more than half of a Hyrox race, so the week has to build an aerobic base and a pace you can hold across eight kilometres. The stations demand strength and grip under fatigue. The hardest part of the sport is neither of those on its own, it is doing the running immediately after a station with your legs already gone.
So the week is programmed in three kinds of work: running, station strength, and the transition between them.
Nobody has to figure out what to do. You turn up and the class is programmed.
All levels
You do not have to race.
Somebody who has never done any of this trains in the same class as somebody chasing a time. The work is scaled, the weights change, the standards do not.
You do not have to race. Most people who train Hyrox never enter an event and it is still the best hour of training in their week.
If you do want to race
A time here is a time anywhere.
The nearest events are Cancún and Mexico City. Mexico's last season drew more than 62,000 competitors across six cities.
Divisions: Open, Pro, Doubles and Relay. Open is where almost everybody starts.
Confirm the current Mexican event calendar before publishing dates.
What is on the floor
Six of every station.
A class of twenty four rotates four to a station and nobody waits.
- Six curved treadmills
- Six Concept2 SkiErgs
- Six Concept2 RowErgs
- Six turf lanes for sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps and carries
- Six wall ball targets
- Kettlebells, sandbags and wall balls in every competition weight
The SkiErgs and rowers are Concept2 on the PM5 monitor, which is the same equipment and the same display used at every Hyrox event. The numbers you train on are the numbers you race on.
What to bring
Shirt, shorts, trainers.
A t-shirt or dry-fit top, shorts and trainers. Nothing else. Water and a towel are here.
Where it sits in the building
One short block, linking across.
The fitness floor and the mat run on the same clock. Classes start at the same minute on both sides, so a parent trains while a child trains, and two adults can train at the same hour on different floors.
Free trial
One free class on the fitness floor.
Pick a class and turn up.
